African Night Fever and Ropetackle present: Roots 8
A multi-national all-star eight-piece band boasting a wealth of super talented musicians and a tropical style of world music.
Roots 8 creates a sound that draws on rare groove rhythms combined with Afro-Caribbean jazz, African back beats, and soulful melodies. This evening will feature a feel good, tropical cocktail of sounds from Africa to the Caribbean.
Afro-Caribbean food will be available from 6.30pm on the night from the Soul Food Sisters. No pre-booking necessary. Meat and vegetarian options are available.
Please note, this event is primarily configured for standing and dancing. Limited seating is available to book for those who require it. Seating will be positioned around the edge of the auditorium, and visibility may be impacted.

The all-star line up features:
Gregg Kofi Brown (guitar/lead vocals), best known for his international hits like “Shadow” recorded with Billy Cobham, “Lullaby to an Anxious Child” recorded with Sting and the dance favourite “Sunshine Day” recorded with Osibisa.
Sam Kelly (drums) is an internationally renowned musician and core member of the band Cymande. He is honoured by Blues In Britain’s “Gallery of Greats”, having won “UK Drummer of the Year” for five years running.
Maiuko (vocals) is a multi award-winning singer songwriter from Mozambique, with a unique style blending jazz, Afro-blues, African-inspired rhythms and Portuguese melodies.
Clare Hirst (flute/sax/backing vocals) is an accomplished saxophonist and composer who has performed with artists including The Communards, David Bowie, and Hazel O’connor to name a few.
Claude Deppa (trumpet) leads the brass and woodwind section of Kinetika Bloco, a project that celebrates the music of the African diaspora with themed summer schools and performances.
Plus Tony Qunta (guitar/vocals), Richard Sadler (bass), and Gabby Yeboah (keys).
