Hatful of Rain

About this event

Hatful of Rain are a band from South East England playing Americana tinged acoustic music, centred on the song writing of Chloë Overton.

Formed in 2010, they have enjoyed success with radio play by Bob Harris and Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2, released three albums and an EP of traditional tracks, and played live up and down the country in folk clubs, bars, festivals, and theatres.

Hatful of Rain are best seen live. They play a variety of instruments, each taking turns on guitar, banjo, mandolin, and double bass, using a “single mic” approach to capture an intimate feel.

Their songs speak of the complexities of everyday life, and their music is playfully referred to as “melanjolly” in style.

“The combination of mandolin, banjo, bass and fiddle is nigh-on perfect, the songs have space to grow but they know exactly when to roll with it” ~ Spiral Earth
