About this event
Following their previous sell-out show, the London Astrobeat Orchestra return to Ropetackle with new material and high energy West African kora maestro Mosi Conde.
The London Astrobeat Orchestra have ignited a movement where cult Western band repertoires are blended with African influences and have made quite an impact in doing so.
The band bring together the finest West African session musicians in the UK with legendary band leader and bassist Edd Bateman hosting rhythmic influences from Senegal, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Nigeria, and Congo.
The band features Jeannot Bel on guitar, Oluwatobiloba McQuitty on drums, atmospheric blues rock guitarist and vocalist Julian Burdock, and renowned Guinean griot and kora player Mosi Conde.
Selling out their first four debut shows at The Jazz Café London, the band were affectionately nicknamed the “African Talking Heads”.
When you consider the Afrobeat vibes that run through all the best Talking Heads albums, it’s both appropriate and correct that this collective of musicians from West Africa, Europe and beyond should offer this completely unique take on such timeless compositions, receiving critical acclaim along the way.
Support comes from African Night Fever DJs.
Afro-Caribbean food will be available on the night from the Soul Food Sisters.
Please note, this event is primarily configured for standing and dancing. Limited seating is available to book for those who require it. Seating will be positioned around the edge of the auditorium, and visibility may be impacted.
