About this event
Found guilty of killing his unfaithful wife and her lover in a fit of passion, Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is shipped to the gothic wind-swept corridors of Shawshank prison to serve a life sentence.
As he protests his innocence, he slowly overcomes the hellfire tortures of the prison system while managing to inspire his fellow inmates to lift their degraded horizons.
Among them is Red (Morgan Freeman in a matchless supporting role), the lifer who, given time, can provide almost everything.
With a beautifully rounded script, writer/director Frank Darabont conjures up a spellbinding odyssey stretching through the years from 1946 to 1967. You will not experience a more divine movie experience this side of Oscardom.
