Ropetackle Film Club: The Old Oak

About this event

“Unmistakably a Loach film: taciturn yet forthright”

The Old Oak is a special place, it’s the only remaining public space where people can meet in a once thriving, mining community. The landlord hangs onto the pub by his fingertips and his predicament is further worsened after the arrival of Syrian refugees.

If this is Loach’s final film, as predicted, he has concluded with a ringing statement of faith in compassion for the oppressed.
