About this event
Many people know the Arthurian stories of quests for the Holy Grail, but not many people know why the Grail was needed in the first place. It was to restore the waterways and sacred wells which had once been guarded by devoted well maidens – until a terrible crime was committed against them.
When the guardians of the sacred wells were vanquished, a great wasteland fell across the land. Every great hero set their minds and their efforts to finding a way to restore the magic, and return the wasteland to its former glory. The future of all life depended on it. And the task was a formidable one, but not necessarily impossible…
Storyteller Sophie Gibson turns her eyes to the wastelands of our story worlds, the wastelands of our not-too-distant futures, and the wastelands we walk within. In this dark story of loss and renewal, she leads us in remembering our disconnected stories, reconnecting with the wisdom of the feminine, and finding the glimmer of renewal hidden in the smoke and ash of our current climate crisis.
Sophie Gibson is a storyteller, writer and facilitator. She has spent over thirty years empowering people to re-frame their life stories. She is an original member of the Storytelling Choir and is drawn to tales that meet at the fringes of wonder and reality.
Alongside Sophie, our regular tellers will be sharing their own tales of healing and medicine.
