Sarah Gillespie

About this event

In the last 12 years Anglo-American guitarist and singer-songwriter Sarah Gillespie has released four critically acclaimed albums, three EPs, plus a book of poetry and lyrics.

Sarah will perform songs from her brand new album ‘Half Cut’, recorded at Berlin’s legendary Hansa Studios (famously used by David Bowie). Drawing on her American roots, the music is a mix of wonky narrative folk, Americana, and elements of jazz punctuated by Sarah’s trademark poetic lyricism.

Sarah has toured extensively, headlining venues and festivals across Europe and the USA, including headline shows at London’s iconic Ronnie Scott’s, the Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room, plus shows in Italy, the USA, Spain, and Germany.

She has twice played live on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and was interviewed by Andrew Marr on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Start the Week’ on the role of politics in music. (She has a Master’s degree in politics and philosophy).
