Wordfest: For Those in Peril and The SS Suevic Story

About this event

David Parker’s film explores the history of saving lives at sea, with some dramatic home movie material of sea disasters and rescues, first shown on the BBC. Galen Bartholomew will then talk about the SS Suevic Story, one of the most remarkable stories in the history of the RLNI.

In raging seas in March 1907, volunteers from four lifeboat stations in Cornwall rescued more than 600 people from two ships in trouble, including 450 people from the SS Suevic off the Lizard.

The story has been researched by Galen, who had family on the vessel.
