We are looking for a new Finance and Administration Officer
Job description:
Responsible to: Centre Manager
Hours: 28 hours per week – flexible for the right candidate
Place of work: Ropetackle Arts Centre / Home Working
Salary: £20,000 to £24,000 pro-rata depending on hours and experience
Holidays: 21 days per annum plus statutory bank holidays (pro rata)
Main purpose of role:
An exciting opportunity to play a key role in Adur’s vibrant, award-winning arts venue. This role combines the job of bookkeeping and finance duties with general admin to assist with the smooth running of Ropetackle Arts Centre and its office. The balance between each aspect will depend on the time of the accounting cycle, and the demands of the business. The post-holder will be expected to work flexibly and without supervision. Prioritising tasks and being responsive to team members will be crucial.
Main responsibilities:
- Maintaining all financial records using QuickBooks and Ticketsolve software (training will be given)
- Providing timely and accurate information to the Management Accountant for the monthly management and annual accounts
- Managing Ropetackle 2020 appeal data via the Charities Aid Foundation platform
- Managing performance financial settlements alongside the Centre Manager
- Managing invoices received from, and payment to, suppliers
- Manage the Receipt Bank
- Banking of cash and cash-handling when required
- Invoicing and collecting payments for non-ticketed sales (venue hires, sponsorship etc.)
- Completing Performing Rights Society (PRS) returns, and Foreign Entertainer returns
- Managing the Ropetackle finance email account and inbox
- Providing data and assistance for the development and monitoring of budgets
- Timely reconciliation of Debtor and Creditor Control accounts
- Providing analysis and management information as required

Person specification:
Essential
- Experienced bookkeeper qualified to AAT Level 2
- Understanding of nominal ledgers, invoicing, and payments
- Ability to work on their own with minimal day-to-day supervision
- Ability to cope in a busy work environment and to deal with distractions
- A calm and methodical approach to work
- Excellent record keeping
- An understanding of, and ability to work within a team, and to contribute positively to team dynamics
Desirable
- Experience of QuickBooks or other accounting software
- An understanding of, and empathy with the ethos of Ropetackle Arts Centre
- An understanding of working with volunteers
