Film screenings tailored for those with dementia and memory loss.

Ropetackle is a certified dementia friendly venue. Our relaxed films place cinema at the heart of a growing dementia friendly community, providing an accessible, fun, and inclusive experience.

Relaxed films enable people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers, to attend the cinema in a safe and welcoming environment.

The films are open to everyone, but are specially designed to be warm and welcoming for people living with dementia, memory loss, or with sensory issues.

WHAT DOES RELAXED MEAN?

How do we create a relaxed environment?

Lights remain on at a low level
Volume is reduced and gentle
Capacity is limited to allow for plenty of room
Attendees are welcome to sing, dance, or talk during the film
There is an interval with refreshments served and an opportunity to socialise
Toilet facilities are close and clearly signposted
Cinema access is flat with no stairs or obstacles
Friendly staff and volunteers on hand to help make comfortable experience
Films are subtitled

DEMENTIA FRIENDLY VENUE

We’re proud to be recognised by Alzheimer’s Society as Adur’s first Dementia Friendly Venue, helping improve the lives of those affected by dementia.

Relaxed and Friendly screenings are usually shown on the third Monday of every month.
